The Lutheran High School Mustang Boys Basketball Team opened the New Year, with an offensive explosion topping the century mark, posting a 101-89 win over the Charlotte High School Trojans. The Mustangs hit 17 three pointers in the game, including 8 by Collin Hunick, to seal the victory. It marked the second time this season which Lutheran High has scored over 100 points in a game.
The Mustangs would jump out to a seven point lead in the first quarter, but would see that lead dwindle as they would lead 45-39 at halftime. The Mustangs came out of halftime and would grow their lead to double digits erupting for 30 points in the third quarter.
Three Mustang players scored in double figures. Hunick led the way with 26 points, while adding 4 assists. Senior Isaiah Sefton scored 24 points and pulled down a team high 10 rebounds. Corey Friesenhahn added 16 points to go along with 7 assists. Elijah Biedinger chipped in with 9 points, while Carl Wegmann added 8 points. All in all, thirteen Mustang players found the scoring column.
The Mustangs will travel to the Christian Academy of San Antonio on Tuesday, January 6th as they start District Play. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30.
