Game Recap
The Lutheran High Mustangs were on the wrong end of thrilling baseball game on Monday night as they traveled to play San Marcos Academy in a non district contest. The Bears were able to grab the walk-off win in a game that featured some great pitching.
The Mustangs got on the board in the first after a Luke Watson two out, two RBI single scored Dale Allison and Phillip Williams.
The game would remain 2-0 till the 4th. inning. Starter Collin Hunick was cruising until he ran into some trouble in the fourth A two out rally which saw three singles and error gave the Bears a 3-2.
The Mustangs would tie it i the 6th inning. Luke Watson singled and would score from first a wild pick off throw ended up getting pas the outfielders.
In the 7th inning, the Bears would get a lead off walk, followed by an infield single. The Bears would load the bases with one out, but a wild pitch scored the winning run and bang bang play at the plate.
Hunick pitched four innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on five hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Phillip Williams pitched 2 1/3 inning of relief. He gave up one run, striking out 6 and walking 2.
Watson had 2 of the three Mustang hits, going 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Bryce Connolly was 1-3 on the day.
The Mustangs fall to 3-6 overall on the season. They will host Faith Academy in their final district contest of the year on Tuesday at 4 PM at Missions Baseball Academy.
