The Lutheran High Boys and Girls Track Teams made the trek up the road to San Antonio Christian for the TAPPS 2A District Track Meet on Wednesday. It was a very successful day as many individuals achieved personal bests, while one individual will be advancing to the Regional Meet in three events!
Sophomore Corey Friesenhahn had a superb day for the Boys Team as he helped the Mustang Track Team place 7th out of 14 teams with 23 total points on the day.
Friesenhahn started the day with a 3rd place finish in the high jump, going 5’6″, tying his personal best. His jump of 18′ 8″ was good for another third place finish. Friesenhahn also competed in the 1600 meters, where he finished 4th with a time of 5:26.89. Friesenhahn also took home a 5th place finish in the 100 meters.
Individuals who place in the top 4, earn a berth in the TAPPS Regional Meet. So, Friesenhahn is a Regional Qualifier in the 1600 meters, high jump, and long jump.
Ben Saravia threw a personal best 100′ 3″ in the discuss to take home an 8th place finish, while Daniel Hernandez took 11th and Curtis Ryder 19th in the event.
Hernandez also scored an 8th place finish in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:24.
Chris Coronado and Ryder also took home Top 15 finishes in the shot put,while Saravia finished close behind in 17th place. Coronado, also placed in the Top 20 in both the 100 meters and long jump.
For the girls, Phoebe Lovins led the way for the girls. She took home a 6th place finish in the 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:47. Lovins also took home 13th place in the 1600 meter run.
Ember Marshall scored a Top 20 finish in the 1600 meter run, while Ariana Alfaro nabbed a Top 15 finish in the 100 meter run. Alfaro took home another Top 15 spot in the 200 meters.
Kendall Pettit tied for 12th place in the high jump.
The TAPPS Regional Meet will be April 30th at Bastrop Memorial Stadium in Cedar Creek, Texas.
