The Lutheran High Mustang Cross Country team joined the rest of their Fall sport counterparts and were able to get out on the track and compete in their first meet of the season.
The runners headed out to participate in the FEAST Patriot Meet held at Fort Sam Houston on their 3200 meter grass course.
The trio of Mustang runners had varied success throughout the meet.
Sophomore Lauren Hurry, the lone runner for the girls team, took home a top 40 finish in her very first high school cross country event. Hurry finished with a time of 16:16, which was good enough to place her 36th out of 131 entrants.
“I am very excited for Lauren. She ran a good race and am excited to see what she can do after a full season of training,” said Head Coach Mike Becker.
Sophomore Elijah Biedinger and fellow Sophomore Damien Peterson competed on the boys side for the Mustangs. Biedinger finished with a time of 28:44, who just beat out Peterson with his time of 29:33.
The Mustangs will keep hitting the trails and adding on the miles as they look to participate in the Judson ISD Meet on Saturday.
