After a challenging non district schedule, the Lutheran High Baseball team kicked off their district schedule this past week with a trip to Hill Country Christian (San Marcos). The Mustangs and Rams were able to finish the contest before the rains came with the Mustangs coming away with the 15-3 win.
The Mustangs started off strong taking a 2-0 lead after the first inning on an RBI singles by Bryce Connolly and Luke Watson.
Lutheran would tag on five more in both the second and third innings to take a 12-0 lead after three before adding three more in the fourth. The Rams would score three in the fourth and the game ended after five due to the ten run rule.
Offensively, it was Bryce Connolly leading the way going 3-3 with a double and 7 RBIs. He also scored a run. Luke Watson was also 3-3 with an RBI. Chris Alvarado added a double while Jared Sherer scored two runs and added two RBIs. Dawson Dullnig scored three runs.
Connolly was also a force on the hill. He went all five innings to notch a complete game. He gave up 3 runs (0 earned) on just four hits. He struck out 13 Ram batters while just walking two.
Lutheran (2-5, 1-0) will take the Spring Break week off before getting back on the diamond. They will play two non district games before getting back in the swing of district play. They will play at Winston on Tuesday, March 22 and at Geneva on March 24.
