The Lutheran Mustangs turned in a perfect week this past week picking up three wins while outscoring their opponents 47-7. The Mustangs, winners of 4 of their last 6 games, head into the final two weeks of district play with the hopes of capturing a playoff spot.
The Mustangs defeated the Atonement Academy 24-5. Three pitchers teamed up to limit the Crusader offense to one hit while striking out 5 in three innings. Senior Luke Watson homered and drove in four runs, while Dawson Dullnig added two hits and Luke Terry had 3 RBIs.
The following day, Lutheran hosted Hill Country Christian-San Marcos in a district contest. Watson was dominant on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 9 on the day. Dullnig, Terry, and Bryce Connolly each had two hits to lead the offense.
The Mustangs ended the week by hosting Winston. Eight different Mustang players recorded a hit on the day. Zack Gentry tripled and drove in two runs, while Elijah Biedinger and Connolly each doubled and scored a run.
Lutheran (7-0, 3-3) will host New Braunfels Academy on Wednesday, April 20 and Sacred Heart on Friday. Both games will be played Diamond Spikes, weather permitting. The Mustangs are one game out of third place in District 5 in TAPPS 2A.
