Lutheran High continued to its winning ways by extracting some revenge on the Living Rock Bobcats on Tuesday night. The Mustangs had to come back from a 2-1 deficit to do it, but in the end it was Lutheran that came away with the win.
Lutheran took the first set 25-20 with Living Rock winning the next two 18-25 and 20-25. The Lady Mustangs regrouped mentally and staved off elimination with a commanding 25-13 set four win, before putting the game away with a 15-11 fifth and deciding game victory.
“Our girls showed a lot of determination after coming back after the third set 2-1 to win this match,” said Head Coach Krista Freitag. “The tenacity and determination that they showed at the end of this match is a component that will take us far throughout the season.”
Junior Domonique Richardson let the Mustangs with a double double with 11 kills and 11 digs, while also tallying 7 aces. Freshman Haley Day added 7 kills while sophomore Lila Williams chipped in with 6 kills. Junior Kim Moore added 13 assists, while leading the team with 8 aces. Rachel Arnold notched 11 digs while Kylan Perry served up 7 aces.
Lutheran (5-10) will take on Gateway Christian on Thursday at 6 PM at Gateway Christian before playing the LHS Volleyball Tournament this weekend.
