Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball, Girls Varsity Volleyball · VB: Seven Lady Mustangs Earn Post Season Awards

For the second consecutive season the Lutheran High Lady Mustang Volleyball Team increased their win total from the previous season. This year Lutheran finished with 20 wins en route to a 20-22-2 record, including a 1-1 mark in the playoffs. The Lady Mustangs finished third in district with a 5-5 record. After the season, seven different players were recognized for their efforts.

Haley Day; First Team All District– The freshman earned first team honors after being one of the top players on the court. Day led the team with 95 digs while racking up 64 kills and and 27 aces-both second on the team. Day attended Concordia Lutheran Middle School.

Domonique Richardson; First Team All District, Academic All State-The junior was recognized despite missing some time with injury. She racked up 48 kills to go along with 66 digs. Richardson also was named First Team All District last year. Richardson attended Shepherd of the Hills Middle School.

Lila Williams; Second Team All District-Williams led the team with 71 kills on the season while racking up 63 digs to go along with 16 aces. The sophomore was a First Team selection a year ago. Williams attended Shepherd of the Hill Middle School.

Kim Moore; Second Team All District, Academic All State– The junior setter led the Lady Mustangs with 117 assists and also with 30 aces. Moore also tallied 54 digs on the season. Moore was a First Team Selection a year ago. Moore attended Concordia Lutheran Middle School.

Rachel Arnold, Honorable Mention All District-  The sophomore Arnold recorded 56 digs to go along with 35 kills and 9 aces on the season. She was a Second Team selection last season. Arnold attended Concordia Lutheran Middle School.

Kylan Perry, Honorable Mention All District- The sophomore setter was second on the team with 97 assists. She also added 11 aces. She was a Second Team Selection in 2015. Perry attended Shepherd of the Hill Middle School.

Lillian Hall, Honorable Mention All District-  The sophomore hitter compiled 31 kills, 16 aces, and 28 digs during the year. This is Hall’s first award. Hall attended Concordia Lutheran Middle School.

Only Juniors and Seniors are eligible for TAPPS Academic All State Selections. Students must carry a 90% GPA and make 1st or 2nd Teal All District to qualify.

The Mustangs will look to improve on this season’s record and advance even further in the playoffs in 2017. The squad will return everyone as there are no seniors as 2017 looks to be a big year for the Lutheran High Mustang volleyball team.
